Mountain Farmhouse Kitchen

Description

Built in a traditional style as much as possible to match its new home, the (estimated) 300 years old Swiss Mountain Farmhouse. The aim was to create a design that blends in the old and the new using traditional wooden guides for the drawers but also living up current day hygiene standards for the sink. I produced the kitchen from a full regional A class solid Larch tree, which really shows off its slow growing quality. The making proces embodied the concept of the project as each panel is built up by hand from lattices, totaling up to 977 pieces. For the daily use we did some fine tuning with a customized dishwashing tray and limestone coasters to protect the wood surface from extensive water & hot objects. In all a special and personal family project for a place of long history, adventure, nature, quietness and a lot of Geselligkeit.
