The Ash

Description

As part of “De Tafel van Zeven” We were challenged to grasp the identity of the Ash tree in a seating object. Based on the character-description of the Ash we learned more about the tree and took this as an starting point for the object. We were inspired by the flexibility of the Ash, it’s resilience is truly amazing. The biggest surprise was hidden underground, the vibration of its Roots creates a communication mode with fellow trees. We wanted the user to experience this phenomenon, therefore the object became a multi-seater when people share the object they will experience each other’s movement directly.
