Butsudan

Description
A “Butsudan” loosely translates as “Cherishing Cabinet”. In Asia, it’s a place to commemorate a loved one or to collect and cherish objects of memory. It inspired me to design to the concept of “cherishing.” How do you preserve the memory of an event or someone?
These “Cherishing Cabinets” (in Dutch “Koesterkast”) therefore come in various shapes and sizes, open or closed. They form the setting where objects of memory are given a valuable place.
The Butsudan can be ordered & designed on request.
